Dr Muhamad Rasat is the 3rd MMU president

PUTRAJAYA: Prof Datuk Dr Muhamad Rasat Muhamad, 57, has been appointed the third president of Multimedia University (MMU) effective today.

MMU said in a statement the former deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) of University Malaya replaces Prof Dr Zaharin Yusoff who has served the university for the past three years.

Muhamad Rasat holds a doctorate in semiconductor technology from the University of Durham, England, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.


He has the honour of having been elected Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the Malaysian Institute of Physics.

He was awarded the Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship at Cambridge University in 1987 and the Asian Development Bank Fellowship at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1993.

Muhamad Rasat has edited several prominent science journals, has published over 150 articles, journals and academic papers and has supervised over 30 PhD and Masters candidates
