LANGKAWI -- A 135-metre tower is to be built in Langkawi at an estimated cost of over RM10 million.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is confident that the new landmark on the resort island will be another tourist attraction.

"I have been given the honour of naming the tower, but have not come up with anything suitable yet," the former Prime Minister told reporters at the ground breaking ceremony at the Kuah Beach here today.

He said the top floor would be able to hold more than 50 people, and the view offered would be spectacular, especially at sunset.

The tower would also have a restaurant.
