Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang: UK's daily names Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang in top 50 list of best hotels

GEORGE TOWN: The Daily Telegraph is one of United Kingdom's leading newspaper with a daily circulation of 600,00 copies surpassing other dailies such as The Times, Guardian and Independent.

Recently, the newspaper's travel writers selected Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa as one of "The 50 Best Hotels in the World".

The news was reported on the daily's online version on Dec 31, 2010.

The newspapers online version is the third most visited website with 1.7 million daily browsers in the UK.

The resort is the only Malaysian property to be awarded this recognition and it is part of an elite group of eight Asian properties on the list.

Other prestigious hotels on the list include, The Carlyle in New York, The Dorchester in London, The Park Hyatt in Tokyo, Hotel Ritz in Madrid, Hotel de Crillon in Paris and the Four Seasons in New York, Istanbul, Budapest and Paris.

There are also a number of luxurious and historic retreats on the list.

"We hope that this latest recognition will attract more travellers from the United Kingdom to stay with us and experience our warm Shangri-La hospitality," said Desmond Hatton, general manager of Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa.

He also added that they are delighted to be included in such a prominent list and will continue to delight its guests as one of Malaysia's premier beach resorts.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts manages 70 hotels across the globe.

They are located in Australia, Canada, China, Fiji, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore, Oman, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
