Langkawi: Cable car service extended

KUALA LUMPUR: Panorama Langkawi Sdn Bhd (PLSB) has extended operating hours of the Langkawi Cable Car service to 10pm during Chinese New Year holidays to allow visitors to enjoy the night view from the top of Gunung Machinchang.

The normal operating hours of the cable car service was until 6pm between Monday to Thursday and 7pm on Friday to Sunday, as well as public holidays.

"Besides enjoying the panoramic view, tourist can also experience Jungle Trekking and have a walk on our unique design hanging bridge," said PLSB Chief Operating Officer Eby Azly Abdullah in a statement today.

He said the Langkawi Cable Car was also awarded the Most Outstanding Tourism Product at the Langkawi Tourism Industry Award 2010/2011 recently.

"The award recognized the role and contributions of the Langkawi Cable Car service towards the growth of the island's tourism," he said.

Langkawi Cable Car has won some recognition awards for its outstanding design such as Malaysia Book of Records for The Longest Free Span Single Rope Cable Car Total in Length - 919.5 metres, Prix Acuer Awards 2005 for Outstanding Construction, Architectural Quality and Technical Proficiency of Steel Works and Footbridge Awards 2005 on Winner for Technology Longest Span.
