Rapid Mobile with Blaupunkt speakers to lure Rapid Penang commuters

GEORGE TOWN: Rapid Penang tied up with renowned car audio maker Blaupunkt to fit state-of-the-art mobile entertainment system on board one of its buses to entice more people to use public transport.

Rapid Penang creative and communications department senior manager Melissa Sandhu said the collaboration with Blaupunkt was a smart partnership to increase ridership in a win-win situation.

She said the Blaupunkt speakers and its integrated multimedia navigation system would be a hit among the commuters on board a special bus known as the Rapid Mobile which made its debut at the Auto City in Juru, Seberang Jaya here.

The navigation system on board the Rapid Mobile is able to integrate various portable media such as iPhone, iPad, MP3 player carried by the technology-savvy commuters.

"Our aim is to lure young people to commute while Blaupunkt will entertain them with its latest audio equipment.

"The Rapid Mobile will go around the swanky places such as shopping malls to offer free rides to the public," Melissa said after launching the collaboration with Blaupunkt at the latter's plant in Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone here recently.

Blaupunkt Malaysia general manager Goh Kok Peow said commuting would lead to less congestion on the road.

"Fewer cars will result in lower emission and this in turn makes for a cleaner environment.

"We will constantly add new audio products on board the Rapid Mobile as time goes by," Goh said after attending the launching ceremony.

Also present was Blaupunkt Malaysia director Hanif Zainal Abidin
