Kedah introduces new housing policy


BALING: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir today unveiled the new ceiling price for affordable housing schemes in the state with the maximum price of low-cost homes being capped at RM45,000 while the ceiling price for middle-cost homes fixed at RM200,000.

The move, under the new State Housing Policy also included the rebranding of the affordable homes schemes from low-cost homes, low middle-cost homes and middle-cost homes to Rumah Kasih Rakyat, Rumah Aman Rakyat and Rumah Makmur Rakyat respectively.

He said under the new housing policy, the ceiling price for low-cost homes were capped at between RM35,000 and RM45,000 per unit followed by RM90,000 ceiling price for low middle-cost homes and RM200,000 maximum price for middle-cost homes.

"The rebranding of the housing schemes names and the new ceiling prices are part of the state government initiative to achieve the target to build 40,000 units of affordable homes in Kedah," he said after handing over the house keys to 406 buyers of low-cost and middle-cost homes in Desa Bidara, Kuala Ketil here today.

The project was developed by Darulaman Realty, a subsidiary of Kumpulan Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB).

Present were state Local Government and Housing Committee chairman Badrul Hisham Hashim, state Education and Public Works Committee chairman Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain, Baling member of Parliament Datuk Seri Azeez Abdul Rahim and BDB Group managing director Datuk Izham Yusoff.
