Yang di-Pertuan Agong first to fly in new Airbus corporate jetliner

ALOR STAR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah ‎became the first passenger to fly in a new Airbus jet to Langkawi this morning.

Tuanku Abdul Halim took off in the newly acquired Airbus Corporate Jetliner Executive Aircraft (ACJ 320) from the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport about 10am.

Tuanku Abdul Halim had earlier arrived at the airport about 9.45am, accompanied by state executive councillor Datuk Mohd Rawi Hamid and state police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya.

The ACJ320 was purchased to replace a 16-year-old Boeing Business Jet (BBJ).

Discussions to replace the BBJ were initiated two years ago taking into consideration the increasing maintenance costs and safety concerns of the older plane.
