PLUS: Toll discounts on certain highways this Xmas

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Christmas celebration this Sunday, motorists using the PLUS highway network will enjoy a 20% rebate.

PLUS Malaysia Berhad managing director Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid in a statement Thursday said the network included the North-South Expressway, North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE).

"The toll rebate is offered to Class 1 vehicle users, (light vehicles with two axles and three or four wheels except taxi) who are travelling more than 100 km and paying tolls using PLUSMiles, Touch 'n Go or SmartTAG, beginning from 12am till 11.59pm on that day," she said.

According to Noorizah, on that date, users of the electronic mode of payment would still need to pay for tolls but the rebates would be reimbursed when they reload within a period of four months, between Jan 15 and April 2017, at PLUS customer service centres.

"The rebate is PLUS' effort to celebrate Christmas while urging the public to use the electronic mode of payment that is easier and faster," she explained.

However, Noorizah said the rebate would not be offered to toll users of Tanjung Kupang, Bukit Kayu Hitam, the Sultan Iskandar building and the Penang Bridge.

PLUS also expected the traffic flow at the North-South Expressway to increase about 14%, with 1.6 million vehicles a day beginning from tomorrow until Jan 3 for Christmas festivities, compared to 1.4 million vehicles daily on normal days.

Meanwhile, Taliworks Corporation Berhad through its subsidiary, Grand Saga Sdn Bhd, and its joint venture company, Grand Sepadu (NK) Sdn Bhd, announced a 10% discount on toll charges in conjunction with Christmas celebration.

Taliworks in a statement today said the discount was given as a gesture of appreciation to all road users and as part of the group's commitment on their on-going corporate social responsibility (CSR) inititives.

"This is the time to be merry and on behalf of Taliworks, I would like to wish all Malaysians a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. To all road users, please put safety as your main priority and have a safe and pleasant drive home," said the group's Senior General Manager A. Rajasolan.
